"As I was walking around the classrooms . . . I was just really actually believing that this is going to be a place where every child is going to college," says Margarita Florez, founding school leader of KIPP Comienza Community Prep charter school in Huntington Park, during an interview with Hispanic Lifestyle.
She talks career choices and making a difference in education and her initial "love-hate relationship" with being a school leader. However, seeing "a school that was promising a different future for their students," that was really going to change the data and the graduation rates of students in East LA . . . it was in this moment that realized "I wanted to do this."
