Organization: San Carlos Charter Learning Center

Robert and Carol Lerche, and their daughter Robin, reflect on the role of families in charter schools as one of the original founding families of the San Carlos Charter Learning Center, which is known as the birthplace of the charter movement in California. The San Carlos Charter Learning Center was one of the first charters to open in the state 20 years ago, after Governor Pete Wilson signed the CA Charter Schools Act in 1992, and is currently the longest-running charter in California.
